This track refers to my car journey from the East to the West coast of America. For days and days we travelled in a car - through the dreamy landscape of America. Leaving New York, seeing ourselves in the Sky Scrappers of our spiritual home, the golden city that is New York, with the Sun rising, we moved into rolling hills of the Garden State and Pennsylvania . Then into the dramatic landscapes of canyons and deserts.... From the urban, prolifically creative city of New York, where great modern graffiti artists such as Keith Haring have left their magical imprint all over the City, we suddenly merged with the esoteric magical dust of Sun scorched rock and dust. And seeing in deserts, such as Death Valley and the Painted Desert, esoteric wonder as the Petroglyphs, I merged City and Nature in my mind and coined the term "Graffiti Dust" which connects the modern city with the ancient path of the desert; civilisation and modernity with ancient notions of the Soul evoked by Nature's landscapes of canyon and desert; mortality with immortality (we return to dust). And what I saw that was common between these two very contrasting landscapes was that humankind has left it's imprint, it's Art, on both landscapes: Haring's graffiti in New York and the Petroglyphs on rock and stone in the deserts. Finally, nearing the end of our journey we come through America's dreamy landscape that we travelled through from East to West Coast, into Hollywood where our collective dreams are projected onto the big screen. But it is here where youth is squandered with reference in the song's lyrics to Jimmy Dean's fatal car crash "I stand on the Hill... the car that crashed". We are made to question our current society, and it's values. At the end of our soul-searching journey, we are left with the ultimate question: can America pull on through and become what it truly is, what has been left behind imprinted on the land in the form of great great great Art, a Great Nation that connects us with a sense of the common spirit, the common universal good!
