"There Is Graffiti In The Desert - In The Heart of America ..."
I travelled through America in a car. Through deserts and canyons. Through red and gold - through the heat of an intense Sun that scorched the Earth into an arid color shocked landscape, making brilliant formations of Sedona Red Rock, Painted Desert, and Death Valley's drifting sands of that white mingled with different shades of soothing layers of Earth browns. I dreamt a 1000 magical dreams; dreams made out of and occupying the vanishing spaces between the immeasurable distances separating each grain of sand. I became lost in the sacred drawings of ancient civilizations that used to inhabit this beautiful land. America!!! It's land overwhelms me, until I am in complete Yogic Unison with the abstract movement of Time Circles and electro-magnetic sparks that fly out of images that look like UFOs, and strange blob forms of Cosmic Beings and their alien traces and trails of wiggle-woo and zig zags-ah, over which run strange creatures with one eye and two heads running upside sideways, like animation bouncing along. All of this moves through winding streams of lines that go triangular into circular into electrified scrawl. These are Petroglyphs - the Graffiti in the Dust. There is Graffiti in The Deserts(!) - in The Heart of America. This is the first Graffiti. It informed the likes of Keith Harring in New York to create his jumping body popping outlines of base 'pop' forms. It informed my art work "Lava Flow + Graffiti" ( see link www.narainderx.com/welcome/node/88 ) because in Hawaii too, where I have also travelled, the fire-red-solidifies-black Lava Flow is like the wiggle-woo and zig zags-ah seen in the drawings in ancient American deserts . America: from the East Coast with it's Tall Buildings, through to the Garden State and the spirit Land of Trees, into the valleys and canyons which dissolve into desert. It all merges, and comes through manifests Hollywood. The Dream has only just begun. Ancient images and forms move now through a Big Screen - is animation at last! I wrote a song about it - you can hear the demo here. It's called Graffiti Dust... "We become Graffiti Dust". We become the space between past that is now Dust, and present which is the Writing On The Wall (or the beggars street board that is a personal map and drawing of the Cosmic Self that has fallen). We all fall eventually. We fall. Cosmic Forces drive Music Making. I AM STILL DREAMING......
